WHERE THERE IS NO VISION
T. Pierce Brown
Solomon expressed a profound and terrible truth in Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Because Jimmy Lovell and others had a vision of lost souls and a realization that there were thousands of persons who cared about them, but had no appropriate vehicle for reaching them, World Bible School came into existence, and approximately 90,000 teachers have taught millions all over the world the way of salvation.
There is now facing us another opportunity which may not come again in this century if we neglect it. That is, the opportunity to get the gospel message into every home in the nation, and in addition to that, in such a fashion that in by far the majority of them, it will be read instead of summarily dumped into the wastebasket. What we are asking each of you to do is a simple matter, but will, with God’s help and guidance, insure the success of this effort.
Every teacher ofWorldBibleSchool, or any other Correspondence Course teacher, has already made more sacrificial effort to save the lost than any other one segment of the brotherhood. Each one of you has been blessed by that effort, so we are asking you to make two more efforts.
First, determine how many persons you would like to receive the gospel message, at the cost of twenty-five cents per person. Send that amount immediately to the Sycamore Church of Christ, 1144 Crescent Dr.,Cookeville, TN., 38501 marked for “Gospel-USA”.
Second, encourage every individual Christian of your acquaintance to do likewise. Third, ask the leaders of the congregation of which you are a member to present this plan to the congregation and take up at least one special contribution earmarked for that specific purpose.
This is not some nebulous idea that IF someone will give up one cigar a day, great things can be done. This is a specific proposal that YOU give up whatever you need to give up in order to get the gospel to whatever number of people your vision sees as those for whom you will take this responsibility with God’s help.
I would like to ask you to do one more thing. If you do this and do not find that the Lord blesses you in some way, I wish you would write and let me know, for I have never seen the promise of 2 Corinthians 9:8-11 fail.
