The Bible does not reveal what led to the offspring of black people, or the red or
yellow or white, as we sometimes classify them. It does tell that God is no respecter of
persons and Acts 17:26 says, “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to
dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and
the bounds of their habitation.” So it is clear that the color of one’s skin does not change
the way God views us. It is supposed by some scholars that after the flood, when
Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth were the heads of various nations that as Ham’s
descendents were inEthiopia, he is the father of the black race, and related darker
skinned persons. Shem is the father of the Jewish race, and other related. Japheth’s
descendants occupied the “coastlands of the nations” (Gen 10:5), i.e., of the
Mediterranean SeainEuropeandAsia Minor. So none of us really need to know
whether our ancestors came from Shem or Ham or Japheth. Where we came from is not
nearly as important as where we are going.
